Inventory controllers, planners, master schedulers, buyers, production controllers, spares coordinators, and material managers using or considering implementing MRP, MRP II, or ERP systems will find the “Manufacturing Planning & Control Systems” workshop helpful to ensuring optimal efficiency for inventory and supply chain management in their businesses. Keith Chaisson, president of the Florida West Coast Chapter of APICS, makes this observation to those considering attendance, “I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter if you have 5, 50, 500 or 5000 employees or whether you call your Enterprise system MRP, MRP II, or ERP, the one constant is each uses a common set of techniques. The vocabulary may be slightly different but those techniques usually remain the same or very similar.”

In the Manufacturing Planning & Control Systems workshop, participants can expect to learn the latest trends and proven techniques for enhancing performance and overcoming challenges, strengthen operation and management skills, and increase their knowledge-base. “The APICS Body of Knowledge helps build some consistency in vocabulary and technique,” adds Chaisson. “That is one reason I recommend the workshop.”

Keeping participants up-to-date on developments in the ever-changing manufacturing environment will be industry expert, Gerald “Jerry” Kilty. A graduate of Ball State with a BS in Accounting and more than 25 years of experience with Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Kilty, has been the president of Quality Management Solutions, Inc., in Clearwater, Florida, since 1992. Having the unique qualifications of being responsible for both financial and physical supply chain elements, his expertise has been recognized by APICS on many occasions to teach and offer practical solutions to their members at chapter meetings and national conferences. Drawing upon case studies to demonstrate the dynamics of planning and control systems in a variety of applications, Kilty will provide an in-depth presentation in this workshop that will meet the needs of both novice and experienced individuals and organizations.

Manufacturing Planning & Control Systems workshop will be held at the Epicenter at St. Petersburg College, 13805 58th St., St. Petersburg, Florida, on Thursday, April 24, 2008 from 7A - 4:30PM.
