APICS EDUCATION SUMMARY

Critical to professional/career development is having one or more of the APICS certifications, Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), Certification in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM) and Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)

A candidate must pass all five exams to become CPIM as follows:
  1. Basics of Supply Chain Management (BSCM)
  2. Master Planning of Resources (MPR)
  3. Detailed Scheduling and Planning (DSP)
  4. Execution and Control of Operations (ECO)
  5. Strategic Management of Resources(SMR)

Exams can be taken any day of the week via CBT. The Exam cost members $110 each.

The FLWC chapter offers three different ways to prepare you for passing the exams:

  1. Two-Day Friday Review Courses. These courses start at 8:00 AM and end at 5:00 PM for a total of 16 hours classroom time. There is a course for each exam. The course cost is $525 each and includes all of the material.
  2. Evening Review Courses. These courses start at 6:00 PM and last until 9:00 PM. two times per week over four weeks or 24 hours of classroom time. The course cost is $525 each and includes all of the material.
  3. A "Fast Trak" alternative that requires a candidate to take two 40-hour courses that will prepare a person for passing ALL FIVE EXAMS. Both courses are available in a classroom instructor-led and an ON-LINE format. The cost for these courses is $1,295 each, regardless of method. The course titles are:
    • Principles of Operations Management
    • Operations Management Advanced Concepts



A candidate must pass all five exams to become CIRM as follows:
  1. Enterprise Concepts and Fundamentals (ECF)
  2. Identifying and Creating Demand (ICD)
  3. Designing Processes and Products (DPP)
  4. Delivering Products and Services (DPS)
  5. Integrated Enterprise Management (IEM)
APICS has announced the discontinuance of this certification, effective June 1, 2008. However, exams will be continued until then allowing those that have begun the process adequate time to finish. There is a limited test window available for CBT exam taking. The chapter will be taking the content of this program and converting to non-certification material during 2008. A candidate must pass one exam to become CSCP. There is an eligibility requirement before a candidate can sit for an exam. See the www. for details. The exams are NOT CBT yet and are only offered three times per year. The exam cost members $550.

The FLWC chapter offers two different ways to prepare you for passing the exams:

  1. Purchase of the Holmes Self Study @ a discount for $795.
  2. A four-day Instructor-led course, which includes the Holmes materials. The course cost is $1,495.
