Speaker: Chet Kagel, 6Sigma Black Belt, JONAH, MBA

    Chet Kagel has over 25 years of manufacturing management and consulting experience with companies ranging from Fortune 100 to venture startups. He has a comprehensive senior management background with a wide variety of manufacturing companies holding the positions of Vice President, General Manager, and Director of Operations. Chet specializes in strategic planning, constraints management, operations reengineering and a wide range of process improvement techniques to assist companies in achieving high performance status. Over the past several years, he has used his manufacturing and consulting experience to help hospitals make dramatic cost savings as well. Some career highlights include:
  • Assisted a medical device manufacturer in the design of Lean Manufacturing workcells for a new product line forecasted to produce revenues in excess of $45mm. Also, assisted with designing a total focused factory plant layout concept for a sister facility. Provided training and implementation in 5S and one-piece flow techniques.
  • Developed a plant layout for a metal engineering, fabricating, and erection company to support their fabrication operations for steel, aluminum, and stainless products in preparation for their move to a new facility
  • Sourced vendors and developed equipment specifications.
  • Assisted in facility layout of an automated clean room filling process for medical device manufacturing resulting in $6 million annual labor savings
  • Sourced appropriate vendors, developed equipment specifications, and managed installation.
  • Implemented workcell techniques for laser manufacturer reducing labor costs by 45% and generating increased revenues of $6.5 million.
  • Achieved a $5 million turnaround in profitability for a direct mail division of a billion dollar corporation.
  • Assisted boat manufacturer in achieving a 60% increase in throughput generating increased revenue of $3 million annually.
  • Reduced press brake setup time and improved layout in sheet metal department for HVAC manufacturer resulting in increased throughput generating additional revenues of $2.4 million annually.
  • Developed innovative supply chain and purchasing programs for playground manufacturer saving $1.8 million annually.
