Just in, the Florida West Coast Chapter of APICS has been awarded GOLD status in the annual PASSPORT review process. This means that the chapter is PLATINUM again (must maintain 5 years of GOLD to achieve this). Your Chapter now has 12 straight years as a PLATINUM Chapter. More on PASSPORT....... Greetings and salutations to my fellow members, guests and friends of our APICS Florida West Coast Chapter. Ducking from one air-conditioned spot to another, with an eye occasionally on the horizon for the next tropical storm, we are now rapidly closing in on the kickoff of our 2006-2007 chapter Professional Development Programs. Attendance surveys taken after our previous seasonís meetings for future topics showed a very strong preference for three primary subjects to be of interest: Lean, Six Sigma and Supply Chain Management. We have structured an approach to all three topics and have integrated them into our Professional Development Programs in a progressive manner. Our first meeting will be September 12th, 2006, at Tucson's Restaurant, presented by Sibyl Melin, CPIM, CIRM, CSCP. This will be an overview of Lean, Six Sigma and Supply Chain Management to kick off our season. Next up will be three meetings offering introductory presentations on Lean in October, Six Sigma in November and Supply Chain Management in January. Following that will be three more meetings with presentations offering Advanced Lean in February, Advanced Six Sigma in March and Advanced Supply Chain Management in April, finishing up with a wrap-up meeting in May to consolidate the process and offer a glimpse of the future. Click on the link below to be directed to our meeting calendar to see more details on our schedule, speakers and topics. We are also very excited about another set of learning opportunities we are offering our members and their companies. Four of our speakers will be staying an additional day to offer our members and guests in-depth, full-day educational seminars.
Finishing off the season in June, we will be hosting another fabulous dinner cruise aboard the Show Queen out of Clearwater Beach. We will present at that time our chapterís performance and financial status, and offer our members a great opportunity to celebrate, relax and socialize with their colleagues, friends and significant others. We are all looking forward to seeing each and everyone of you at our events planned for this season. In the meantime, enjoy the tail-end of the summer, and weíll see you at our September PDM. Best regards. Craig Williams, CPIM APICS-FLWC VP Programs |
