Please allow me to to take a minute of your time to inform you of our October 2008 Professional Development meeting, Tuesday October 14th, 2008 at the Tucson's Restaurant in Clearwater. Our speaker for this evening's presentation is Fred Tolbert, CPIM CSCP.

Anyone involved in almost any business enterprise depends to various extent on some form of forecasting for planning and execution purposes. Of course, we all know the number one forecasting rule is that the forecast is always wrong to some degree.

Fred Tolbert's presentation for this evening is titled "Welcome to Work. Youíre Wrong! . . . How to Deal with Lousy Sales Forecasts!" Fred's presentation this evening will include:
  • A framework for integrating the sales forecasting function into the overall Supply Chain Planning process.
  • An overview of the common misconceptions relating to sales forecasting.
  • Specific techniques for dealing with sales forecasting errors.
Fred will also demonstrate how progressive companies reduce the effect of forecast errors by implementing state-of-the-art inventory planning systems, and will show how sales forecasting is used in conjunction with safety stock management, Distribution Resource Planning (DRP) and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) to manage the complete Supply Chain.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Our September PDM's theme of the Tampa Bay Rays was a huge success - the Rays are in the playoffs. And we can attribute that success to our PDM....well, it's our story and we're sticking to it. Our next big decision is what to do if there is a playoff game the night of the PDM.

I hope you enjoyed being kept up to date on happenings from the International Conference from Kansas City. [Click here to view the blog] The Conference started on a gloomy note when the remnants of Hurricane Ike passed through the area on Saturday. After that, the weather was lovely for the last three days. It was great to see so many faces from our chapter. The educational sessions were flighted specifically for you to follow from an education information presentation, through a practitioners experience. [Read the entire message...]
