February 10, 2009 Speaker: Joseph Kirchner, CPIM Tucsonís, Clearwater MAP 13563 Icot Blvd Clearwater, FL 33760 5:30 - 6:30 Social Hour 6:30 - 8:00 Dinner and Speaker Presentation TOPIC: Translating Supply Chain Management into Boardroom Terminology New Year's Greetings to my fellow APICS Florida West Coast Chapter members and friends! We had a very successful first annual multi-organization meeting in December. Ninety-one participants from twelve different professional organizations attended. We first learned about each others organizations while meeting and greeting with the other guests, and then had an excellent presentation on Building Professional Networks. We all realized that there are strong inter-disciplinary similarities between our respective groups, and found many points of commonality. It was agreed that we would host the same event next December. You can also expect to see some more joint meetings with a variety of other organizations in the future. I am pleased to announce that our chapter's very own Joe Kirchner, CPIM will be presenting at our February 10th meeting. Joe's topic is "Translating Supply Chain Management into Boardroom Terminology." In Joe's words, "It is very common for Supply Chain Management performance to go unnoticed at the highest level of an organization. This is not necessarily a reflection of the efforts or the results, but more often it is a case of not sharing the news with the right audience. Even when the right audience is engaged, Supply Chain professionals are frequently unable to translate the information into terms that make an impact at the executive level of a company." This presentation takes the audience through the process of reviewing possible miscommunication and how to make sure the correct message is being sent. Once the accurate message has been identified, we will discuss the metrics, analysis and results that should be shared at the highest level of the organization to achieve both the recognition and encouragement needed to travel on the path of continuous (and recognized) improvement. Joe Kirchner has over 30 years of experience in Supply Chain Management in a variety of industries, including Automotive, Chemical, Electronics, Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, and Consulting. Joe's areas of expertise include Production Planning & Control, Forecasting, Inventory Management, Purchasing, Logistics, Project Management, and Sales & Operations Planning. I invite everyone to attend, and if possible, bring a colleague as well. We will have two tables specifically designated for Career Services with Cathy Snape and James Moore and Education with Jerry Kilty. Those in transition or looking to quickly advance their APICS body of knowledge should plan on spending some time with these two groups. Hope to see you there! Keith J. Chaisson Hello from the Florida West Coast Board of Directors. In January we met in our mid year review. Our focus this year was to make sure our members received the most from their membership. We hope we are doing our job for you. One of the things that have been a focus area is our Career Services area. With the downturn in the economy, this has become a significant contribution we can make to help our members in transition. Please check out our Career Services area on the Chapter website. Along with current job postings, there is a series of helpful articles and links to help during this time. Keep checking since these are being updated by our Career Service Director James Moore and Career Service Manager Cathy Snape. [CLICK HERE] To read the full details....
