March 2009 Programs Message: I offer an optimistic March 2009 greeting to my fellow chapter members and friends. In these difficult times, daily pressures and stress can negatively affect our ability to positively interact with others. In light of that condition, our evening's speaker, Sibyl Melin CPIM, CIRM, CSCP, will present "Working and Playing Well with Others". This presentation will provide effective and fun approaches for working with others - at work, in your personal life, anywhere you need to interact with others. Understanding your own style and incorporating some knowledge of others' styles will provide excellent tools for all attendees. With 25+ years of experience in operations management, her credentials, background and multiple industry experiences provide an excellent foundation. Known for her passionate expressions for maintaining manufacturing excellence in North America, Sibyl brings facts, common sense, and humor to her audiences. The presentation will provide an overview of the four basic behavior styles in an informative and fun environment. This is an interactive and practical approach to playing better with others. Attendees will take away:

We just returned from a meeting of the APICS Southeast District where the Florida West Coast Chapter was well represented. Catalent's own Kristen Pressley presented on doing business in the international market place. Also, Chapter Career Services Director James Moore presented our Chapter's Career Services program. Our Chapter has been leading other APICS chapters in this area. Congratulations to both on these outstanding presentations. These meetings are very informative. Many chapters have developed different techniques. Shortly we'll be trying a new reservation technique for the monthly meetings. The Mid Florida chapter has been using a service and we'll be trying it soon. As we've already seen in our Chapter, the economy downturn has been stressing chapter's memberships. There is a program in place where an unemployed member can petition the Chapter President to extend their membership six months. Please feel free to contact me if you need this service. APICS is presented in a humorous, light-hearted way in a six minute video, well worth viewing. Click on the following link to view the clip on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KTpKL0lUJY. If you are interested in joining the board, please contact me. If you have any thoughts of things we need to address in the current and new Board year, please let me knowÖ.we value your feedback.
