A warm spring greeting to my fellow APICS chapter members and friends. As you know, the flow of material, information and cash define the success or failure of supply chains. As was mentioned at one of our previous meetings, "The future of business competition will be greater between supply chains than between individual companies". Therefore, the collective performance of our supply chains dictates our company's ability to compete in the marketplace. For those of you unfamiliar with "The Beer Game", this is an educational, interactive and fun supply chain simulation to demonstrate how the "Bullwhip Effect" can affect supply chain performance, resulting in disruptions in customer service and inventory fluctuations. In addition, this year's version has some new "LEAN" features to add to the process.

Gerald L. Kilty, CFPIM, CIRM, CSCP is President and founder (1992) of Quality Management Solutions, Inc. (QMS), a consulting and education firm located in Clearwater, Florida. QMS concentrates on process improvement, focusing on Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Lean Manufacturing, Sales and Operations Planning, Materials Management, Data Accuracy and Product Costing.
  • Jerry has over 40 years of experience, having worked mostly as a controller for Westinghouse Electric Corporation for 25 years, prior to starting QMS.
  • Jerry's APICS involvement includes having served most of the board positions on the local FLWC chapter's Board, including President, two years on Region 4 staff, and two years on the Southeast District staff. He currently serves on the APICS Education and Research Foundation board as Treasurer.
  • Jerry has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Ball State University.

On March 16th a meeting was held at Polk State College to rollout APICS education on the east side of Tampa. Please take the simple three question survey to determine your preference choice of where to take educational offerings: PSC or SPC
